Three to four times a year we have been blessed with the opportunity to host the local Buddhists of Kagyu Sukha Chöling (KSC) and elsewhere. Lama Pema Clark and Lama Yeshe Parke have been leading groups at Buckhorn since 2001 and are always a welcome, calming presence.

“This willingness to work with our needs is a hallmark of the relationship the family creates with their guests, making Buckhorn truly unusual and special among retreat facilities.”
– Lama Pema Clark and Lama Yeshe Parke
Every February we bring Buckhorn back to life for the Buddhists. Water is turned back on, heaters are gathered, mattresses flipped and everything dusted and fluffed after a few months of winter-hibernation.
Although there is often still snow on the ground and a cold bite to the air, the Buddhists are always appreciative and thankful of the warm lodge and Leslie’s wholesome meals.
This year we kicked off the weekend with a hearty green meal on the first night:
Stir Fry with Asian Greens,Tempeh & Peanut Tahini Sauce
Short Grain Brown Rice
Fresh Green Salad with Garlic Tamara Dressing
The rest of the Buddhist retreat was filled with favorites such as; Sweet Potato Quesadilla, Cherry-Vanilla Ricotta Muffins, Buckhorn Granola, Good Mother Bean Chile and many more delicious homemade specialties.

We look forward to hosting many more retreats in 2013!
Until next time,
Lauren of Buckhorn Springs
